Book Review: Sex God ~ by Rob Bell

If you know me at all... you know that I'm a bit enamored by Rob Bell( the NOOMA guy)!  Relative, Relational... a Re-Thinker for our times.  He in no way discards the tried and true tenants of our faith... yet he challenges us to step away from doctrine just long enough to examine the relationship between God and His people... in which it came!

SEX GOD ~ A blatant way to get our attention in a Christian culture that may lend itself more to refraining from such titles... at least if they hope to sell their publication.  This book explores, as the sub-title suggests, "the endless connections between sexuality and spirituality".

Many reviews claim this is geared toward engaged or married couples... I would disagree and suggest that it would be very appropriate reading for high-school freshman all they way up to the most seasoned of adults!  A proper understanding of how our design relates to God's and the interplay of both is well explained with a healthy helping of wit (referring to marriage as the "pursuit of nakedeness").  Sure, that may seem shallow and imply that the only reason Christians marry is to finally be intimate... but that's just because we've limited the definition of intimacy.  Allow Rob to journey with you in pursuit of true intimacy because (as he often states) "This is really about that"!
